Synthesis AEPZ-CBA

synthesis of reducible hyperbranched poly(amidoamine) (RHB)

Michael addition copolymerization  of half molar ratio of a triamine AEPZ-to-bisacrylamide monomers (CBA and MBA).

1. Weigh AEPZ (0.193 g, 1.5 mmol), add to methanol/water mixture (3.5 mL, 7/3 v/v) in a small vial.

2. Add CBA (0.260 g, 1.0 mmol) and MBA (0.308 g, 2.0 mmol) to vial.

3. React at 50 °C for 5 days, yielding a viscous solution.

4. Add small amount of 1-methylpiperazine   to consume any unreacted acrylamide groups.

5. Stir for 12 h at 50 °C.

6. Add cool acetone to precipitate polymer.

7. Dry precipitate under vacuum at room temperature.
